Tron: The Ghost in the Machine - TPB

In stores now!

"Collecting all six issues of the six issue series TRON, based on the classic movie and hit video game! Inspired by TRON, Disney's groundbreaking science-fiction motion picture classic, TRON: The Ghost in the Machine takes place in present day, over two decades after the events of the film. Jet Bradley, son of the original TRON programmer Alan Bradley, has recently escaped the computer world. But his experiences within cyberspace have left him emotionally scarred — vivid nightmares plague him, and he's become paranoid and unstable. He shuns technology wherever possible, leaving him effectively crippled in the modern world. And now something within the computer world wants him back!"

SLG webstore sale!

SLG is having a 30% off sale. That means 30% off of everything, including previously marked down items. Here is a small selection of work available from Eric and myself through SLG. There is more. Much more. Click this link to see the entire list.

By the way, the first book on that list is a Gloomcookie trade. I didn't write that. I wrote an introduction which is why it comes up under  search  for my name. It's a great book by my good friend Serena Valentino. I highly recommend her work.

Before I continue, remember this important peice of information. You need to enter this code at the checkout to get your dicount:

So here's a small sampling of the loot:

Besides the multitude of comics work Eric and I have produced, there is also merchandise. Cheap merchandise. Before the 30% off, Carl and Mummy are only 5 bucks.

For those who only know my all-ages work, the X-Ray Comics trade paperbacks are very much NOT all ages. Tron skews adult. Little Gloomy and Super Scary Monster Show are all-ages.

So just so we are clear. Every issue of Tron: The ghost in the Machine is on sale. Every issue of The Super Scary Monster Show. Every issue of Little Gloomy. The first two issue of Supergirl. Both X-Ray Comics trade paperbacks. Two vinyl toys. A t-shirt. Not to mention everything else SLG has ever put out (that's in stock). Gargoyles. Haunted Mansion. The work of Jhonen Vasquez. The SLG work of Evan Dorkin. Everything.

So please, if you're familiar with one of our books, give another a try. SLG needs the money. Eric and I need the money. And more than that, we do these books because we want people to read them. If you're reading this site because of Supergirl, give Super Scary Monster Show a shot. It's very different, but different isn't always a bad thing.

SLG sale!

SLG is having a 25% off sale at its website. Type in the word bigsale in the coupon field to get your discount. This means you can now purchase any or all of the works of Eric and myself. Well, the one produced through SLG, anyway.

Such as:

Little Gloomy!
The Super Scary Monster Show!
Tron!
X-Ray Comics!
T-shirts!
Action figures!

And they used to have some of the Kid Gravity trade paperbacks in stock. So maybe those too. What, I'm supposed to provide all the answers?

Anyway, the sale is for a limited time. Act now. Maybe perform a monologue or a small bit of sketch comedy. Then get online and order the books.

Tron #6 in stores now.

Tron issue 6 is in stores now. I know this because I bought one. I bought one because Dan Vado of SLG openly hates me and won't come to any of my 17 different birthday parties this month.

Here's a picture of me with Tron #6.

Why am I reading this? I already know how it ends.

Tron interview thing...

Our souls were captured at ComicCon. In this video we discuss Tron the comic.

Word on the street is that issue 6 will be in stores in early September.

TR2N and Preview from the last issue.

Apparently, a small bit of test footage was shown at ComicCon this year for a possible Tron sequel titled "TR2N". Being in the know as I am, I know things. But alas, I am not allowed to tell you anything. In the meantime, absorb this bit of art from the only official Tron material currently being released.

Tron 6 preview...again.

Here's another small Tron 6 preview. The dialog in this shot is actually repeated in every single panel of the book. Over and over again.

Tron

Three little words...

I am done.

I just wrapped up what little work I had left on Tron #6. Technically, I've been done with the book for months. But the last stages of coloring and what not are coming in, and so it is time for lettering. Lettering always means a last revision of the dialog based on the final execution of the imagery. So that's how I spent my day. There was no way to cover everything I wanted to include in the final issue. I suspect one or two (or more) questions in the vein of "yeah, but what about...?"

But that's the way these things go. Some people will like it. Some people will certainly be disappointed. Some people will be looking for a story that this isn't, and when they don't find the story what they expect, they will think it's just poorly constructed.

Not really my concern.

It was difficult returning to work on Tron. Writing those comics meant putting myself in a certain state of mind that was uncomfortable. The following quote sums it up well enough, I think:

"But I have convinced myself that there is absolutely nothing in the world, no sky, no earth, no minds, no bodies. Does it now follow that I too do not exist? No. If I convinced myself of something (or thought anything at all) then I certainly existed."

So yeah. That ends my working relationship with Tron (and Eric's as well. But that's his business and he never posts, so I've decided to be self-centered here). Something that I've been attached to in some form for almost 8 years. I'll still be dealing with a bit of promotion and maybe an editorial or something somewhere. But the real work? Done. I can comfortably close the door on this particular chapter of my life. Now my attention is focused on Supergirl. In contrast to Tron, the protagonists dilemma is very normal. The lead character is sane, even if a bit given to dramatic outbursts and suffering from an over abundance of imagination. It's a much more comfortable place to be, a happier place.

And I feel very... relieved.

I could be playing Halo...

New journal entry on our other blog. It's the usual nonsense.

http://littlegloomytv.blogspot.com/

I mentioned before that much of our current list of projects is complete. So now we get to work on the Super Scary Monster Show collected volume. I'm looking forward to getting a new Little Gloomy related project in print. And we get to include a full comic book worth (or so) of material originally printed in Disney Adventures. Sadly, I'm not sure if that materila will be reprinted in color. Rikki Simons did a great job with that stuff and I always hoped to see it collected properly for the world of comics.

Here's a sample bit from the upcoming issue of Tron. Not lettered yet, of course. I'm really pleased by the execution on this page by Mike Shoyket and the colorist team. I wish I knew the colorists. I've never worked with someone without having ever talked to them before.

At this point it should be clear that we just like to talk about ourselves.

It's a hell of a town.

New York was fun. I sold out of a few things and only had a couple of people act like they were going to punch me. I bought a jacket because I forgot mine. Actually, Dan made it possible for me to buy a jacket. I lost badly at Mario Kart (many times). Those that vanquished me shall not be named lest my humility grow deeper. Let it just be known that if the racing were on a console, I would have ruled with an iron shell.

There was a snowball fight. Actually, it was just me throwing a snowball at Dustin over and over. He seemed to enjoy it though. I also got to hang out with the most adorable 2 year old I have ever met. She like Pikachu like crazy.

By the way, if anyone knows anything about the box of stale green cupcakes, let me know if I should regret eating one when the show was over.

A recent interview with Wizard Universe can be found here.

I want to thank Kiel Phegley for editing out all the parts where I rambled pointlessly. I was having a bad day and my mind wasn't where it should have been.
